Skyspear Missile Launcher
The Skyspear Missile Launcher is a type of surface-to-air Missile Launcher mounted on Space Marine Hunters.[1]
Overview
The Skyspear was considered experimental by the start of the Horus Heresy, and was used as both a static artillery piece and on vehicle chasses. There is a potent Machine Spirit in each missile that allows for impressive range, guidance, and accuracy. However, initially it had limited cognitive capacity against fast-moving aircraft. Production was vastly increased by the start of the Heresy and the Mechanicum was able to find methods to fix many of these problems.[5]
Skyspear launchers are able to fire a salvo of Skyspear Missiles, each of which is guided by the interred remains of a Chapter Serf,[1] using the serf's brain to enhance the advanced targeting systems incorporated in each missile.[4] The missile itself is extremely powerful, able to blow apart Tau Barracudas and Eldar Vampire Raiders. They can even destroy creatures such as Bloodthirsters and Hive Tyrants.[3]
The Skyspear Missile Launcher can also be used as a stationary anti-aircraft installation as part of a wider network of air-defence systems.[4]
