3rd Company, Ultramarines Chapter

The 3rd Company of the Ultramarines, known as the Scourge of Xenos, has won notable glories during the Tyrannic Wars.[1]

Overview

The 3rd Company has long been given the duty with confronting the most dangerous monsters the Imperium has to face. To this end, the Company has long emphasised close-range anti-Xenos combat techniques, often using Aggressor Squads and Centurion Warsuits, which are sometimes supported by 1st Company Terminators for leading operations against Space Hulks. Under Captain Mikael Fabian, the Company also favours Flamer weaponry, utilising Land Raider Redeemers and Hellfire Rounds.[1]

Warriors of the 3rd routinely see action in the Deathwatch, usually returning with the honorary title of Tyrannic War Veteran.[1]

History

During the First Tyrannic War, the 3rd operated aboard voidships during space battles against the Tyranids, repelling boarders. After the 1st Company was destroyed in the northern polar fortresses, the 3rd Company exacted vengeance on the surviving Tyranids there.[1]

By the time the Indomitus Crusade reached Macragge, the 3rd Company's strength was divided into multiple different Strike Forces from the Eastern Fringe to the remains of the Cadian Gate.[1]

Company Banner

The 3rd Company has multiple Standards from millennia at war, which line the trophy halls in the Fortress of Hera.[13c] One of the more recent and famous of these banners features an impaled Tyranid head, and was created to honour the Company’s victories in the First Tyrannic War.[1] However, the Tyranid head also serves as a warning against complacency, as the duty of the 3rd is to continue to destroy Xenos.[1] The 3rd Company also displays older Relic Standards, marked with icons and badges from the Company’s history that inspire Battle-Brothers to live up to past deeds.

One Ancient in the 3rd Company's history is Sergeant Ortegius, a member of Command Squad Fabian.[13d][14]
