Anders Mir was a Corporal of the Cadian 217th regiment.[1a]

Biography

A trueborn Cadian, Mir had a reputation among the 217th as an excellent sharpshooter.[1a] He had even managed the feat of killing a Heretic Astartes on Zephys by landing a shot through its eye lens.[1c] However, he was also notable for his outspoken dislike for the regiment's transplants - those non-Cadian born Guardsmen transferred from other regiments to bolster the 217th's numbers.[1a]

At one point in the Indomitus Crusade, the Cadian 217th were deployed to fight against heretics on the planet Cocleratum.[1a] However, after Imperial forces were driven back from the capital city of Elborescum by the heretics, a new strategy was put forward: a team of three specially selected Cadian snipers (Mir, along with First Sergeant Ilya and Corporal Nevic) would infiltrate Elborescum ahead of the main attack and assassinate the heretics' leader, Speccius.[1b]

During the infiltration, the Guardsmen were discovered and had to flee through the Gardens of the Fountains. There, they encountered a Heretic Astartes, who attacked them. He easily overpowered Mir, batting aside his long-las and throttling him. However, as the Traitor Astartes taunted the Guardsman in his grasp, Mir set off one of the krak charges on his belt.[1d] Mir was incinerated in the blast[1d] but, although it was injured, the Astartes survived.[1e]
