The Cadian 217th (known as "The Gauntlet Runners"[2f]) is a Cadian Shock Troopers regiment of the Astra Militarum. It was among the Cadian regiments that fought in the Indomitus Crusade.[1a][2b]
The 217th was notable for containing a large number of "transplants" - Guardsmen not native to Cadia itself, transferred from other regiments to bolster its numbers.[1b][2f] Among these was the famous sniper Darya Nevic[1a][2a], the so-called "Ghost of Cocleratum".[2e]

History
The 217th was not present during the Fall of Cadia, having been deployed elsewhere.[2f] News of Cadia reached them too late; they were too committed to extract before their homeworld's destruction.[2b] This led some Cadians to refer to the regiment as the "Missing Two-Hundred-and-Seventeenth". Opinions of the regiment from true-born Cadians were not helped by the larger-than-average number of transplants used in the 217th.[2e]
In the Age of the Dark Imperium, the 217th were among those Cadian regiments that fought in the Indomitus Crusade.[1a]
