Battle of Quradim

The Battle of Quradim was a battle of the early Indomitus Crusade.[1a]
History
The battle saw the Imperial Garden World of Quradim invaded by the Iron Warriors warband dubbed the Dru'Kashyl under Warsmith Bolaraphon. Using superior numbers, the traitors were able to initially overwhelm the defending Genesis Chapter and Newfound Expeditionary Auxilia troops.[1a] However, the situation turned when Ultramarines elements led by Chaplain Helios arrived with brand new Primaris Space Marine warriors. Upon learning that an Indomitus Crusade fleet led personally by Roboute Guilliman was on the way, Bolaraphon hatched a plan to lure the Primarch to the world and kill him by detonating a cache of Virus Bombs.[1b]
As the invading Iron Warriors ship Damnatio Memorae was destroyed in orbit by the arriving Imperials, Bolaraphon prepared to detonate the bombs.[1c] The Genesis Chapter Librarian Hesiod was able to learn of the bombs' location and, with the aid of the Ultramarines under Helios, successfully sent a psychic message to the Guilliman's approaching fleet. Helios and his forces raced to the bombs' location at Quradim's southern pole. Bolaraphon, having deduced their intentions, mobilised his remaining forces in a final attempt to secure the weapons for himself.[1d] Meanwhile, the Iron Warriors launched a massive attack on the Genesis Chapter's citadel, overwhelming the survivors led by Jovian but not before they were able to evacuate their gene-seed stocks via Ultramarines Sergeant Theron.[1e]
As the Genesis Chapter forces were overrun at their citadel by the Iron Warriors, a vicious battle erupted at the southern pole for control of the virus bombs. The Ultramarines were successful in acquiring the warheads and destroying the Iron Warriors, though Helios was mortally wounded seemingly killing Bolaraphon.[1f] However, as Guilliman arrived Bolaraphon revealed himself to be alive and detonated his sole remaining warhead. He died in a final act of spite, though Guilliman was able to escape in time.[1g]
