Cadian 82nd
The Cadian 82nd is an Astra Militarum Regiment of the Cadian Shock Troopers.[1]
History
In M42, the Regiment was among the Imperial forces that unsuccessfully defended Lazulai from a Tyranid invasion. As the world began to fall to the Xenos, after months of warfare, the Cadian 82nd were among the Regiments left fighting on the doomed world. However it still contained an asset, that Lord Commander Stone wanted evacuated. He ultimately chose General Kvelter of the Cadian 2012th Regiment to carry out this mission. She commanded the Cobalt Fortress, which was one of the last left on Lazulai, and she sent out several heavily armed groups to reach the asset. Each was destroyed before they could come close to the asset's distant location however.[1]
When an overwhelming force of Tyranids was later discovered to be heading towards Cobalt Fortress' location, though, Lord Commander Stone ordered that a final attempt be made to secure the asset. But since her heavily armed groups had been quickly destroyed, Kvelter decided to send out a group that would not be noticed by the Xenos. The General chose Major Wulf Khan of the Catachan CMIII for the mission, who would be leaving the Fortress with a squadron of her Guardsmen. They would then head towards Opal Bastion to meet with an liaison officer from the Cadian 82nd, who would lead them to the asset's location.[1]
