Kvelter
Kvelter is the Astra Militarum General of the Cadian 2012th Regiment.[1]
History
It was among the Imperial forces that unsuccessfully defended Lazulai from a Tyranid invasion. As the world began to fall to the Xenos, after months of warfare, the Cadian 2012th were among the Regiments based in the Cobalt Fortress, which was under Kvelter's command. The Fortress was one of the last left on Lazulai and Major Wulf Khan, of the Catachan CMIII which was stationed there as well, believed this was largely due to the General's efforts and skills. Though with Lazulai deemed to be beyond saving, no further reinforcements would be sent to the surviving Imperial forces there. However the world had one asset that was worth saving and Lord Commander Stone of Sector Command, ordered General Kvelter to retrieve it. She was not told what the asset was, but Kvelter came to believe it was a weapon that would end the threat of the Tyranids. The invading Xenos made the mission impossible, though, as each heavily armed group the General sent out from the Fortress, was destroyed before they even came close to the asset's distant location. However when an overwhelmingly force of Tyranids was later discovered to be heading in the direction of the Cobalt Fortress, Lord Commander Stone ordered a final attempt to be made to recover the asset. But since their heavily armed groups had been quickly destroyed, Kvelter decided to send out a group that would not be noticed by the Xenos. The General would choose Major Wulf Khan and her Catachan CMIII for the mission, as they had the best chance of traversing the hellscape the Tyranids had turned Lazulai into. Kvelter then told the Major of the mission and that she would be leaving the Fortress with a squadron of her Guardsmen and an Adeptus Mechanicus agent-adept, who would oversee the extraction of the asset. They would then head towards Opal Bastion to meet with an liaison officer from the Cadian 82nd, who would lead them to its location. In order to ensure the best chance for their success, though, the General would draw the Tyranids' attention by advancing towards Jasper Fortress. Kvelter would lead all of her surviving personnel in the attack, which included the Cadian 2012th and the remainder of the CMIII. The General and Major both knew how this advance would end, but it would at least give Cobalt's Imperial forces a proper final fight. Major Khan would then salute Kvelter, before leaving to pick her squadron for the mission.[1]
