Transonic Weapon
From Warhammer 40k - Lexicanum
(Redirected from Chordclaw)
Transonic Weapons are a type of weapon used by Adeptus Mechanicus forces,[1b] most infamously Sicarian Ruststalkers.[1a][4]
These weapons emit a low insistent buzz that makes stomachs turn. When they strike armour, these weapons will adjust their hostile sonic field to match the material's own resonant frequency, quickly slicing through it.[1b] This principle of dissonance make transonic weapons highly effective at slicing through the toughest of armour with ease. Transonic weapons make a low buzz almost inaudible to unaugmented hearing. Although most are unable to hear it consciously, those in the weapons' presence without correct adjustments can feel vibrations through their entire body, from their guts to their eyes.[2]

Sub-Types
- Chordclaw — Battle claw that can turn muscle into bone and fat to jelly.[1b] Sicarian Ruststalkers are typically pair a chordclaw with a Transonic Razor, although a wielder with at least 3 arms might pair one with a pair of Transonic Blades. Chordclaws are fundamentally designed differently from transonic "cutting" weapons (blades and razors) and so also behave differently on the battlefield.[4]
- Transonic Cannon - A short-range "sound gun" that blasts transonic frequencies in a specific direction.[3]
- Transonic Blade — Longer sword; often seen wielded in pairs by Sicarian Ruststalkers.[4]
- Transonic Razor — Shorter sword; Sicarian Ruststalkers often wield a transonic razor alongside a chordclaw.[4]
