Cthonian Beserks
The Cthonian Beserks are the heavily augmented Kin of the Cthonian Mining Guilds of the Leagues of Votann.[1]

Description
Most Kin who join the Cthonians already have Cloneskeins that imbue them with hyperdense bones, tolerances to extreme radiation, the ability to perceive exotic spectra, and other traits useful for mining. However most will undergo even further cybernetic and biochemical augmentation to allow them to better conduct their work. None more so than Beserks, which consists of the most extensively cybernetically augmented within the Guild. Such enhancements may include reinforced skull plates, artificial organs, nanofibre muscle grafts, bionic implants, cybernetic limbs, and subdermal shunts that can flood their system with Cyberstimms. All of these allow the Beserks to push their bodies beyond the natural limits of the Kin. With these augmentations, Beserks are renowned amongst the Leagues of their cheerful rivalry within their own ranks, seeing who is the greatest "lugger".[2b] They are also well known for the endurance and fearless maniacal ferocity they can unleash upon their enemies.[3]
Toiling at the forefront of Guild acquisition operations, they take a grim pride in braving the most nightmarish and dangerous resource sites.[2b] To do this, the Beserks eschew the high-tech STC weapons wielded by the rest of the Kin and instead use robust mining equipment, such as Heavy Plasma Axes, Concussion Gauntlets, and Concussion Mauls. These tools are equally useful in battle, and when this occurs, they become weapons that can penetrate heavy armour or xenos carapaces just as easily as stubborn rock and stone. In addition, the Beserks' modifications ensure these courageous warriors can keep fighting through life-or-death situations.[1] Cthonians frequently see battle, not just fighting to defend their mining sites but also launching raids on the resources and infrastructure of other races when deemed necessary.[3]
Besides consisting of Beserks, Cthonian Mining teams often are accompanied by L-COG drone assistants.[1]
