Overview
The Hekaton symbolizes the maximalist design of the Votann, who are some of the greatest engineers in the galaxy.[4] It was originally designed to carry bulk material or haul armoured carriages, but it has been efficiently adapted as a combat vehicle and troop transport.[5a]
Hekaton Land Fortresses are heavily armed and armoured mobile bastions. The vehicle is protected by an inches-thick tricermatite adaptive plating of a bastium alloy skin with corpuscles of hexaphasic mineral. They are further protected by a weavewërke field lattice interleaved between the structural layers. All of this - plus the vehicle's sheer size and weight - means that it can build up incredible momentum and force while on the move. The vehicle itself is driven by six dual-core traction units.[5a]
Beneath its heavy protection, the Hekaton also hosts a plethora of advanced systems. Proximity nets sweep for encoraching foes, enabling semiautomated targeting of its sponson-mounted weapons. Multiple COGs are wired into the vehicle's independent cogitator core to provide tactical assessments and monitor other subsystems. Panspectral scanners, cybershield comms arrays, and even limited empyric shielding are amongst the other support systems present within the Hekaton. Cradled in support harnesses within its troop compartment, up to fourteen[5c] standard Kin can be safely transported. Unlike the smaller Sagitaur, the Hekaton's compartment can also carry warriors clad in Exo-Armour or even bulky Ironkin Steeljacks. Besides its troop transportation role, the Hekaton is also proficient at moving heavy cargo.[4a]
While ferrying troops across the battlefield is an important duty in its own right, the Hekaton is also a battle tank in its own right. Land Fortresses are heavily armed, equipped with weapons such as the Cyclic Ion Cannon, Heavy Magna-Rail Cannon, SP Heavy Conversion Beamer, MATR Autocannon, and smaller mounts of Bolt Cannons and Ion Beamers for point defence.[3] Its Pan Spectral Scanner can be traded out for a variety of Missile Launcher options, including the haywire Ancestor's Vengeance Warhead, anti-armour Mountain Breaker Warhead, or anti-infantry Kin's Wrath Warhead.[4] For protection, they are equipped with Void Armour.[1] Hekatons are piloted by a Kin driver and Ironkin co-pilot.[4]
