Dark Heart (Chapter)
The Dark Heart were an elite Chapter of the Word Bearers Legion, during the Great Crusade and Horus Heresy.[1]
History
The Dark Heart served First Captain Kor Phaeron and proudly wore the ashen grey, that was once worn by all of the Word Bearers. The Dark Heart's symbol of a labyrinthine seal had been held in infamy since the Great Crusade and they were considered to be their Legion's premier warriors, before the creation of the Vakrah Jal.[1]
As the Horus Heresy wore on, the Chapter would include the elite Terminator Armour-equipped Phraetus Anointed amongst their members. These possessed Saturnine Terminators are noted to have been first deployed by the Word Bearers in the defense of the Legion's allied Forge World Milhand. Though it fell to the Iron Hands, the Dark Heart's Phraetus Anointed killed many of the Loyalists before escaping. However, several Phraetus were killed during the battle and it has been speculated by some, that the Iron Hands created the Helwrought from their armour.[1]
The Dark Heart also aided in defending the Colchisian Satrapy from the invading Iron Hands. They would go on to become the elite of the Word Bearers' warhosts that did so.[1]
