Glavia Aerand is a Cadian Astra Militarum Sanctioned Psyker.[1] She is gifted in divination and is a powerful Primaris Psyker.[2b]
Overview
She was once an officer in the Cadian Shock Troopers who possessed preternatural good luck. This was revealed to be psychic in nature when the Great Rift's creation caused Aerand's abilities to fully manifest themselves. Thanks to the intervention of her regiment's Primaris Psyker, Aerand survived the emergence of her psychic powers and was sent to the Imperium's Scholastica Psykana to be trained in her abilities. She survived the hellish experience and was turned into a Sanctioned Psyker, leaving Aerand to make use of her psychic gift. The former officer was then returned to her original regiment, but her new status as a psyker led her once friends and comrades to view Aerand with terror and suspicion. Matters were then made worse as her regiment was sent to a battlefield on the haunting world of Visage shortly afterwards.[1]
History
Glavia Aerand was born on Cadia. The world was lost before she was old enough to participate in the survive-or-die ritual in the barren moors of Cadia to prove their worth before conscription. Instead, she performed this ritual a decade later on Bellarus Prime where she survived 40 days in its frigid and savage wilderness wastes, thus earning her Whiteshield conscript helmet. She learned of the necessities for survival and a soldier during that testing.[2d]
At some point she served on Lincress. Aerand rose to the rank of lieutenant during the 900th's campaign on the mountain world world of Ourea where they suffered heavy losses and battled Chaos forces. At some time, the then Colonel at the time — now a General (5 years later) — Yarin had gifted Aerand two Mars-pattern Mark IV command laspistols at her ceremonial frocking and ascension to company command. Aerand led the 900th's Secundus Company and Sergeant Olevier Corwyn was a trusted officer whom she worked closely with in doing so.[2c] They had also been good friends since Aerand's first days in the 900th.[2b] Eventually, Arend's powers would emerge and she would spend 5 years at a hidden facility on a Scholastica Psykana controlled world in the Segmentum Obscurus.[2a]
