Visage is a haunting world, where even the morning fog may be out to eat someone's soul. It was a battlefield for the Cadian Shock Troopers Regiment of the Sanctioned Psyker Glavia Aerand.[1] The planet has three small moons that orbit at a fairly fast speed.[2c]
The planet, also known as Pythonissa, is a swamp world, covered in briny seas and misty marshes. Its primary value to the Imperium was its tithe of psykers.[2a]

Long before the earliest Imperial records on the world from the Great Crusade, Visage housed a powerful daemon in an alien prison. Local human legends of this were already ancient by the time of the Great Crusade, dating back long before the creation of the Imperium. This daemon would come to be known as the Witchbringer, and as the name implies, is the reason for the high number of psykers born on the world. Over the course of millennia, corpses of mortals would gather around the prison, their souls consumed to grow the imprisoned Witchbringer's power, and psionically-active corpsewood trees would grow from their remains. These trees also had a psychic link to the Witchbringer. Ancient settlements encircled this corpse tree bog, with the prison at its centre, forming a sort of cordon.[2e]
During the Era Indomitus, the planet was once in a state of rebellion against the Imperium but the Dorean 19th were sent to quell it. The 19th eventually turned traitor, becoming allies of convenience with the bog cultists and their swamp witches. Guerrilla warfare ensued for ten years before the Cadian 900th arrived.[2d] After a series of events over the course of six months, Visage was once again secured for the Imperium. However, in doing so they also rendered it incapable of producing its once-notable levels of psykers for the Imperial tithe. The world is now functionally obsolescent to the Imperium.[2b]
