House Margrave

House Margrave is the current ruling house of the Moebian Domain. Lord Constance Margrave is the current Lord Moebian, the title of office for the Sector Lord of the Moebian Domain and planetary governor of Atoma Prime. The Lord Moebian's seat of power from which they rule the Moebian Domain is in Hive Tertium.[1]

Overview

The current Lord Margrave is the 13th successive member of his house to hold the office of Lord Moebian since taking power in M36.[4b] The first Margrave ruler took the seat of Lord Moebian after seizing control of the Moebian Domain from House Barquette in early M36; some refer to this transition of power as a civil war.[2a][2b][4a] Margrave uniforms favour somber, dark tones of red, blue, and brown to distinguish themselves from the Barquette's rulership whose supporters favour bright, opulent reds, blues, and golds in their dress and uniform.[2a][2f][2g]

History

The domain has been under Margrave rule from M36 until the present day M41. The Moebian Domain entered a period of relative stability and prosperity after the hugely destabilizing xenos incursion from the Moebian Fringe in M35. Many of the domain's worlds were lost and the Moebian core worlds were almost destroyed. This lead to the Barquettes' rise to power, rebuilding of the hive clusters that would coalesces become Hive Tertium, and an explosion of mining and manufacturing that led to Tertium's returning wealth and the complete collapse of Atoma Prime's biosphere.[4c]

Houses Barquette and Margrave are still two of the most powerful noble houses of Atoma Prime in M41. A bitter political rivalry continues to exist between the two houses and this still simmering rivalry extends to the populace of Atoma Prime with many who still feel the need to take the side of one or the other.[2a][2g] Ecclesiarchy members in the Moebian Domain with more garish dress are often supporters of House Barquette.[2e]

The Moebian 33rd "Blackguard" served House Margrave in M35 during the civil war between the House Margrave and House Barquette. Elements of the Moebian 33rd "Blackguard" once served as personal guards of the first Margrave Lord Moebian.[2b] In M41, the regiment is more known for its favouritism for recruiting from specific Hive gangs and cynical attitude. Their uniforms' colours consist of dark blue, black, and grey for armour and fatigues, along with a variety of red headwear (helmets, rebreathers, bandanas, etc).

It is common for Moebian noble houses to have their own personal military forces. The personal army of House Margrave is the Graven Elite.[5]

Known Members

  • Lord Constance Margrave - Current Lord Moebian and ruler of Atoma Prime.[5] As Lord Moebian, he holds much power over all Moebian Regiments. Most of these regiments have a two sets of dress uniforms issued: one for standard Astra Militarum assemblages and regimental ceremonies, and a second black and red patterned dress uniform for events in the presence of Lord Contance Margrave.[3a]
  • Lady Constant Margrave – Sister of Lord Margrave and a major player in upper-hive politics. She is known for her political schemes and machinations.[2c][2d]
  • Anselm Margrave (deceased) – The first Lord Moebian of House Margrave who took power after House Barquette's rule of the Moebian Domain was unseated in M36.[4a]
  • Sire Mangolin of House Margrave
