Marija Horvat
Marija Horvat was an Imperial citizen who lived in Elborescum on the planet Cocleratum.[1a]
Biography
When Cocleratum's government was overthrown by a heretic uprising, Marija fled into the maglev tunnels beneath the city with a number of other Imperial loyalists, including her father and her two sons. Most the refugees who were with her family either died or tried to flee towards Ticcia, but the four of them were able to hunker down in an abandoned servitor hub, where they survived off the servitors' nutrient paste.[1a]
At one point in the Imperial campaign to reconquer Cocleratum, a team of three Cadian snipers was sent to infiltrate Elborescum ahead of a major offensive. Entering the city via an abandoned maglev tunnel, the snipers encountered Marija, who was attempting to find food and water after their supplies in the hub had been exhausted.[1a]
Thinking that she was a heretic soldier, Sergeant Ilya tackled Marija as she tried to run away from the Cadians, holding her down as they interrogated her. However, on discovering that she was still loyal, they let her up and gave her ration packs (although Corporal Mir objected to this, believing that they should simply kill her and move on).[1a] She answered some more of their questions[1a] before they let her go.[1b]
