Voidreaver
Voidreavers, sometimes known as Reaver Bands[2], Serpent Squads[4b], or Lightning Squads[4a], are the generic infantry troops of the Eldar Corsairs and make up the bulk of their fleet crews.[3]
When they take to the field of battle, they do so in loose bands, the members each allied by tenuous bonds of kinship or fleeting friendship. Such bands are employed as the main body of any serious raid, harrying the foe with lightning fast assaults and equally precipitous withdrawals. These raucous and undisciplined units often display a wild variety of weaponry and equipment that defies any attempt by the Imperium's scholars to codify them in anything but the loosest categories, making them difficult foes to anticipate or easily counter.[2]
A Reaver band is composed of a group of Corsairs and is potentially led by a Corsair Felarch.[1] They wield a variety of weapons, including Shuriken Rifles, Blasters, Shredders, Neuro Disruptors, Shuriken Weapons, Wraithcannons, and Power Swords.[3]
Trivia
- The Rogue Trader army book The Book of the Astronomican (1988) included rules for squads of Serpent Squads, junior infantry among the Eldritch Raiders,[4b] and Lightning Squads, junior infantry among the Eldar mercenaries of Crangor's Buccaneers.[4a]
