Catalytic Mass Driver
Catalytic Mass Drivers are weapons utilized by the Crimson Guard, otherwise known as the Venatorii, an elite military force of the Adeptus Mechanicus within the Calixis Sector. Compensating for their strange and mysterious aversion to melta weaponry, Catalytic Mass Drivers serve as their weapons of armour-cracking firepower. One of the few known integrated ballistic weapons, these are some of the strongest weapons within the armoury of the Crimson Guard.[1]
By using energy harnessed from the Potentia Coil, Catalytic Mass Drivers can propel minute shards of metal at alarmingly high velocities. Though it is one of the few integrated weapons known to utilize physical ammunition and therefore can run out of it, the projectiles it fires off are so tiny that drum-sized magazines can last for several hours of continuous use.[1]
There is a larger version known as the Heavy Catalytic Mass Driver. It is only slightly more powerful than the regular version but it has a considerably higher rate of fire.[1]
