Doom Scythe
Doom Scythes are supersonic fighter aircraft used by the Necrons.
Overview
Unlike most of the forces employed by the Necrons, Doom Scythes can function in a highly independent manner and contain an advanced android brain in its pilot which is capable of simulating billions of possible strategies in the span of a few nanoseconds, making them formidable dogfighters.[1] This makes Doom Scythe Pilots more independent than other Necrons, thanks to a large number of onboard datastacks, which contain strike plans, stratagems and tactical variants.[3] The aircraft itself is fast and agile thanks to its powerful propulsion system, which consists of an augmented version of the same repulsor drive employed by Tomb Blades.[1] Despite having an enclosed cockpit due to the mechanical nature of its pilot, Doom Scythes are equipped with energy shielding.[5]
Doom Scythes are usually the first wave of a Necron invasion, used for sowing terror and confusion among enemy forces. The whine of its repulsor drive is intentionally amplified and is capable of driving those organic beings who hear it insane and catatonic due to the resonance frequency with their living brains.[4] Should the enemy not yield before this, they are armed with twin-linked Tesla Destructors and the devastating Death ray.[1] This devastating weaponry allows a Doom Sycthe to obliterate entire armoured columns on its own. A full squadron of these aircraft can reduce a hive city to slag in less than an hour.[4]
Lordsblade
Doom Scythes (and Night Scythes) which are especially effective in their role are elevated to directly serve their Necron Overlord; these are known as Lordsblades.[6]
