Faustinius
Faustinius is a Magos Dominus hailing from Mars.[1a]
Silva Tenebris
Magos Dominus Faustinius lead a salvage expedition to the newly rediscovered world Silva Tenebris aboard the Ark Mechanicus, the Caestus Metalican.[1a] The Ark Mechanicus is currently commanded by a triumvirate of Adeptus Mechanicus Magi lead by Magos Dominus Faustinius. The triumvirate also includes Tech-Acquisitor Scaevola of Stygies VIII and Lector-Dogmatis Videx of Metalica.[1c]
Faustinius is in charge of deploying Tech-Priests and auxilia on missions to Silva Tenebris. He is unshockable and pragmatic, and his realism in the face of battlefield losses verges on gallows humour. Faustinius believe that knowledge is the only path mankind must tread to save itself, but he is conflicted by how best to go about pursuing it. Both Videx and Scaevola believe he should make up his mind - a Magos cannot sit on the fence about how the Omnissiah's work is to be done. They believe he is still too human to advance up the ranks of the Tech-Priesthood to Archmagos and beyond. Ultimately, as his subordinates, Videx and Scaevola must swallow their pride and fall into line.[1a]
Faustinius would not only need to make choices in how to deal with the Necron Tomb World, but also have to quell a Heretek uprising within his own ship. The Hereteks would be lead by a mysterious Arch-Heretek, the Xenarite Tech Priest Epsilus Dammek-Yoth, who infiltrated the Caestus Metalican prior to its departure to Silva Tenebris.[2]
Personality
Faustinius was selected for the mission by the Archmagi of Mars and sees it more as a trial or puzzle to be endured rather than an opportunity for advancement. His concern for the other members of the mission is unusual amongst other Magi. While he's still a believer in some of the less palatable tenets of the Cult Mechanicus (such as the flesh being weak and menials serving Tech-Priests for a lifetime), he is still more sympathetic than most other Ad-Mech members accompanying him on the mission. He is not, for instance, an extremist like Videx nor does he skirt the edges of heresy like Scaevola.[1a]
Xenobiologis Tiresus is a brilliant, young Tech-Priest protege of Faustinius, whom the young Xenobiologist views as a mentor. Tiresus learned his craft under the aegis of Faustinius on Mars.[1b]
