Void Dreamers are powerful Way Seekers whose mastery of Aethyrmancy[8] allows them to gaze into the myriad events of the near-future, the Kilithikadya,[9] to navigate the Warp itself, serving as helmsmen and navigators of entire Corsair fleets.[1][2]
Overview
Void Dreamers are the rare Aeldari Psykers of the Eldar Corsairs which has developed thier talents as a Way Seeker[8] to achieve the clarity of mind and purpose needed to guide the Corsair fleets through the endless wastes of the Warp or the twisted passageways of the Webway.[4] Void Dreamers are akin to the Farseers which walk the Witch Path in that they focus on the arts of divination and prophecy.[1] However they do not use this to discern the distant far future but rather events that would effect them in the near-future.[1] This enables them to navigate the Daemon-seas of the Warp whilst shielding it from its myriad dangers. Thus, the Void Dreamers use their divination and prophetic powers to guide vessels whilst protecting their crews from the Daemons of the Warp.[1][2] Within a Warp-tainted space hulk a Void Dreamer's insight and protection is invaluable to squads of Corsairs.[2]
This unique ability is developed away from the protective structures of the Craftworlds where wild and unpredictable psychic abilities flourish – and for each emergent psyker who learns to control and focus their talent, there are many more who cannot. Such prodigies are highly valued by the Corsair Princes, both a bane and a boon for the Corsair fleet as they grant powerful strategic adaptability but also invite the danger of the bloody internecine wars have been fought between Corsair fleets over the services of particularly gifted void dreamers.[4]
Void Dreamers are also able to channel the void itself offensively, their empyric manifestations able to alter the fabric of reality and echo the worst horrors of the void: immolating foes in burst of star fire, subjecting them to the collapse of depressurisation, or to freeze them in the dreadful cold of the deep void.[8]

- The Void-Dreamer first appeared in the Rogue Trader army book The Book of the Astronomican (1988) as a variety of Eldar Corsair mercenary which could accompany Crangor's Buccaneers of the Claw Nebula. The Void-Dreamer had generic psychic abilities and was otherwise a fairly uncomplicated hero character with a Power Sword and Shuriken Catapult.[7]
