Hellbore

The Hellbore is a burrowing vehicle used by the Adeptus Mechanicus[1], Imperial Guard[1], and Adeptus Astartes[2].
Larger then both the Termite and Mole, it uses a phase-field generator to burrow a drill filled with troops into the ground, allowing them to surface behind or on the flanks of enemy fortifications and positions.[1][2] It has the capacity to transport up to one of the following: 12 Squads of Space Marines, 12 Imperial Guard Squads[5], 8 Dreadnoughts, 4 light vehicles, or 2 Rhinos (with troops inside them to their normal carrying capacity).[2] The troops embark and disembark by an assault ramp which folds into the Hellbore's body when not in use.[3] The Hellbore drilling-rig is armed with a multi-melta and heavy bolters while the transport vehicle is armed with heavy bolters and defended by two power fields.[4]
The drilling-rig portion of a Hellbore is as long as a Stormbird while being wider in beam and more heavily armoured.[3]
Hellbores also get used by the forces of Chaos like the Iron Warriors.[3]
Hellbores remain in active service within the Imperium as of the Era Indomitus, with the Cadian 101st still making use of them.[6]
