The Secutarii, also known as the Titan Guard,[1a] are[2] an ancient military formation created to serve as the honor guard and protectors of the Titan Legions, developing alongside the Skitarii Legions of Mars long before the Imperium's founding.[1a]

History

The Secutarii's origins trace back to the Age of Strife, with their zenith during the Great Crusade, when every Titan Legion had dedicated Secutarii regiments. However, during the Horus Heresy, they fought on both sides of the conflict, loyal to the Titans they served.[1a]

In the 41st Millennium, the Secutarii still remain as the guards of the Titan Legions.[2]

Tactical Use

Designed to address the unique vulnerabilities of Titans, the Secutarii specialize in close-quarters protection against covert assaults, infiltration, and ambushes that could exploit the Titans' sheer scale. Additionally, they clear and eliminate threats left in the wake of advancing Titans, hunting down survivors and fleeing enemies to ensure the Titans can focus on critical targets. Their third role involves supporting the Titans as part of an auxiliary force, defending landing zones, supply lines, and damaged Titans from sabotage or plunder. They also retrieve or assist Titan crews, considering their own lives expendable in fulfilling these sacred duties.[1a]

The Corpus Secutarii

The Secutarii, like their Skitarii counterparts, undergo extensive cybernetic reconstruction, replacing much of their organic tissue with circuits, bio-plastic, and metal. These augmentations are a reflection of their devout faith in the Omnissiah, the Machine God, whose Titans they venerate as divine avatars.[1a]

Among their enhancements, the Kyropatris Field Generator stands out. Integrated into their ribcage, this device generates a harmonic barrier capable of deflecting projectiles, blasts, and even heavy weapons fire at higher densities. Its true strength lies in synchronization with nearby generators, forming a collective, armor-like defense. This resilience enables the Secutarii to endure the brutal battlefields where they are deployed.[1a]
