The Ostologoi, or more commonly known as the Bonepickers, were zealous hordes of Mechanicum[1b] forge-serfs[1a] and Tech-Thralls, that followed in the wake of Skitarii Conclaves.[1b]

History

They abandoned their fanes to do so[1a] and the Ostologoi were eager to serve and earn the favour of their masters. This was done through duty and obedience and the Ostologoi were used as expendable[1b] cover for the Skitarii Conclaves during battles. Afterwards, the surviving Ostologoi were sent to recover the remains of any slain Skitarii, so the their augmetic carapaces could be stored in caskets. The conclaves also tolerantly[1a] allowed the Ostologoi to comb through a battlefield once the Skitarri were victorious, so the scavenging hordes could find anything else worth salvaging. The scraps found were considered by the Ostologoi to be remnants of the Omnissiah's righteous wars and in their unerring faith, even insignificant items were venerated. Though this could be nothing but spent ammo box magazines or empty shell casings, to the Ostologoi they were considered to be low-grade relics - items that have been in contact with higher forms of venerated technology.[1b]
