Skitarii Battle-Pilgrym
Battle-Pilgryms were a type of Skitarii warrior used by the Mechanicum during the Great Crusade and Horus Heresy-era.[1]
Overview
Battle-Pilgryms were the original form of Skitarii, having their origins in the scavenger tech-clans of Mars during the Age of Strife. Drawn from Tech-Thralls from various Forge Worlds, as Corpus-Skitarii developed, their original personalities and bodies were completely remade through a process dubbed 'flesh-shriving'. As with modern Skitarii, each Pilgrym was extensively augmented through cybernetic enhancements and mental reconditioning. These warriors were pilgrims of the truest sense, serving in the Skitarii Conclaves as roving tech-warriors. Each Conclave exemplified an aspect of the Cult Mechanicus dubbed a Clade Parameter, and was sworn directly to the Fabricator-General of Mars.[2b]
Bestowed with the collective skills and wisdom of past warriors, Battle-Pilgryms acted as light infantry in battle in squads of eight to sixteen dubbed Corpus'. Most commonly equipped with Voltlock Arquebuses or Voltlock Handguns alongside Power Swords, Auctorit Sceptres, Phase Claws, and Corposant Staves.[2a] In the Mechanicum order of battle they stood somewhere between hordes of Tech-thralls and more heavily reinforced Thallax Cohorts.[1]
