Dark Eldar Hellion[5]

A Hellion is a feral and athletic Dark Eldar mounted on a "skyboard", a flying platform equipped with underslung splinter pods from which they assault the enemy forces before they have a chance to fire back. They are comprised of outcasts, anarchists and wanted felons who are considered rebellious even by other Dark Eldar.[4]

Overview

Hellions are reprobates and miscreants who are often made up of aspirants not yet old enough to become a Kabalite Warrior.[6] Hellions form gangs that prey on the streets of Commorragh, existing on their wits alone and living savage lives that often see them battle Kabals as well as other rival gangs. They also have fierce rivalries with Reaver and Scourge gangs of the upper levels, resenting those who are more privileged than them. While they may outwardly maintain a rebellious attitude, in secret Hellions yearn to become powerful in their own right.[6]

Hellions often maintain close ties to the Wych Cults, who provide them with various Combat Drugs and protection against other gangs and threats in exchange for performance in the bloody fights of the Cult's arena, as well as realspace raids.[4]

Leaders of Hellion gangs are known as Helliarchs[6].

Wargear and Tactics

The most noticeable equipment used by Hellions are their Skyboards. These single-pilot anti-gravity platforms are highly prized by the Hellions as a sign of independence[6], though they are seen as less prestigious than a Reaver Jetbike.[7] Nonetheless Hellions highly personalize their skyboards with trophies and glyphs, though in truth most have changed hands several times in brutal gang brawls. Often they will be bedecked with the severed heads of several previous owners.[6]

For weaponry, Hellions wield Hellglaives, double-sided polearms with recurved hooks that allow a skilled wielder to latch onto nearby objects and change direction in a heartbeat. Their ties to Wych Cults allow them to access a series of other exotic weapons, such as toxin-soaked Agonisers, Power Swords, and barbed grapnels known as Stunclaws. Their Skyboards are additionally equipped with Splinter Pods.[6]

In battle, Hellion gangs are often used by Wych Cults or Kabals as forward scouts and skirmishers as well as terror troops. The first sign of many realspace invasions are waves of howling, drug-crazed Hellions.[6]
