Note that these terms are common but not always universal. Names for similar things can vary depending on their diverse local cultures, whether it be across a hive city district or across the galaxy.

Scanner or radar. A standard Imperial detection device for a variety of energy emissions, movement, life-signs, heat, and numerous other factors necessary to identify dangers.
