Scourge

A Scourge is a type of Dark Eldar warrior who possesses flight capable wings and has access to powerful ranged weapons.
Overview
A Scourge is a particularly rich and daring Dark Eldar who has submitted themself to a haemonculus's attention - having their bones hollowed out, powerful wings grafted to their frame, and new bands of muscle and adrenaline dispensers added to their torso so that they are capable of true flight[2a] – a practice which originated with the Solar Cults of old.[5] Some Scourges become so far removed from their humanity that they will grow quills and feathers from their body and change their skull into an avian appearance. Even once the many painful surgeries are complete, a Scourge is not considered a true member of their number until they are able to fly to the upper spires of Commorragh and fight their way through rival Hellion and Reavers to the base of one the many Scourge gangs. Those who make this vertical pilgrimage and still survive will finally be dubbed a true Scourge, and will show disdain upon the earthbound kin they left behind.[3]
Scourges dwell within the upper spires of Commorragh and are an intrinsic part of life in the city. They act not only as warriors but also spies and messengers for various Archons. Their messages are often imbued with a poison whose antidote is only in the possession of the recipient.[3]
Unlike other armies, who have assault-oriented jump-troops, Scourges carry heavy weapons into battle, often employed for hit-and-run tactics against vehicles and heavy infantry. Equipped with Ghostplate Armour for protection[5], they prefer to engage foes at range, and are wary to risk their expensive bodies in direct combat. These are most often Shardcarbines, Blasters and Shredders, but may also include heavier Heat Lances, Splinter Cannons, and Haywire Blasters. Sometimes they may also wield melee weapons, such as Agonisers, Venom Blades, and Power Lances.[3]
A Scourge squad leader is known as a Solarite,[2a] a name derived from the priests of the now-destroyed Solar Cults,[5] and represents the most veteran and far-removed from their humanity amongst their kind.[3]
