Indurate
The Indurate were a formation of Saturnine Terminators in the World Eaters Legion, during the Horus Heresy.[1a]
History
While the World Eaters had access to the Saturnine Terminator Armour since the Great Crusade, they spurned its use. This was a result of a deleterious interaction between the armour's interface systems and the Legion's Butcher's Nails implants. However this changed during the Horus Heresy, as the World Eaters descent into brutality gave rise to a twisted cult called the Indurate. These World Eaters, exulted in the resilience offered by the Salamanders Primarch Vulkan's redesign of Saturnine Terminator Armour, despite its amplification[1a] and hastening of the Butcher's Nails effects. The Indurate would go on to take great pride in wearing the new armours they had taken from Loyalists they killed in battle. Those that did so, despite the pain it entailed, earned a mark of enviable renown and eventually Loyalist armour bearing Vulkan's redesign, became highly prized by the World Eaters.[1b]
However, the first time the Indurate were deployed in significant numbers, was during the World Eaters' Shadow Crusade battle on Nuceria. There, the Indurate were keen to prove their power against the Ultramarines' Suzerain Invictarus, as the Primarchs Angron and Guilliman fought each other. But, when the Ultramarines later retreated from the battle, some World Eaters turned upon the Indurate to claim their highly sought after Saturnine Terminator Armour.[1b] While the Indurate's practice of claiming these suits from the dead continued, the World Eaters began issuing newly-forged Saturnine Armour, in the later years of the Horus Heresy. Though these were only given to the Legion's specialist Inductii cadres, whose members had not yet succumbed to the Butcher's Nails' effects.[1a]
