Master of Descent

Master of Descent was a type of specialist position in the Legiones Astartes during the Great Crusade and Horus Heresy.[1]

These officers were those who had a special talent for the coordination of planetary landing operations and Drop Pod assaults. They descending the battlefield in Jump Packs, they employed high-gain communication and scanning equipment to conduct initial probing attacks on enemy positions weakened by bombardment, as well as coordinating waves of troops. Only once their forces landed would they commit themselves to battle.[1]
