Tekathikos
The Tekathikos, Mountain Breakers, were formations of Saturnine Terminators and Saturnine Dreadnoughts in the Iron Warriors Legion, during the Horus Heresy.[1a]
History
Their origin began in the aftermath of the Heresy's Dropsite Massacre, when the Iron Warriors Primarch, Perturabo, became impressed by his brother Primarch Vulkan's Saturnine Terminators and Saturnine Dreadnoughts. He had been initially dismissive of needing to take up the armour once again, until Perturabo witnessed the cool efficiency and endurance of the Saturnine-equipped Salamanders. The Iron Warriors Primarch then began the mass-manufacture of the armour and by 012.M31, the Legion was able to field company-strength Tekathikos formations of Saturnine Terminators, who were supported by many Saturnine Dreadnoughts. These Tekathikos companies where then placed under the command of a specialized cadre of veteran Praetors and Centurions.[1a]
The Tekathikos fought at the height of the Siege of Inwit and besieged many Loyalist strongholds across the Imperial Fists' Inwit Cluster. The companies gained a reputation that matched their name, as the Tekathikos shattered their foes' walls and then killed their enemies with contempt. The Tekathikos unleashed so much horror across the Inwit Cluster, that the Imperial Fists' high command formed hunter-killer task forces to destroy them. These task forces were armed with specialist weaponry to do so and were charged with killing the Tekathikos first, above all other Traitor forces.[1a]
