The Symbol of the Esoterists[1b]

Esoterist was a type of Consul used by the Legiones Astartes during the Horus Heresy.[1a]

Appearing later in the Heresy, Esoterists were Librarians who returned to their studies post-Nikaea with or without the blessing of their Primarch and delved into forbidden lore that saw common use on the battlefield.[1a] Esoterists aligned with the Traitor Legions[2] are able to open rifts through the warp and summon Ruinstorm Daemons to do their bidding, while those aligned with the Loyalist Legions have the power to close those rifts.[3]
