Diabolists were a type of warrior employed by the Word Bearers during the Horus Heresy.[1]
History
First appearing openly at the Battle of Calth, these proto-Sorcerers specialized in Daemonancy and using the powers of the Warp in battle. One of Roboute Guilliman's edicts after Calth was the specific targeting of these officers.[1]
They still exist in the present day, but are no longer the sole domain of the Word Bearers. The Thousand Sons are among the Chaos forces known to have Diabolists amongst their ranks.[2]
Arch-Diabolist
Arch-Diabolists are Diabolists who have made many pacts with Daemons, that have granted them powers and infernal allies. These have ensured that an Arch-Diabolists' foes can never predict when they will unleash their devastating powers.[2]
