Helpful articles

Below is a list of templates that are used on Lexicanum to help standardise articles, make editing easier, and make articles more visually interesting.

Meta

Below is a list of all meta templates, i.e. those which exist for article-writing purposes and to help readers understand non-lore (real-life) information such as authors or sources. Most meta templates will also be generic, and can be applied and adapted into many articles if required.

Informative

• Actor - Marks a performer (audiobook and audiodrama performers, etc.) and puts the article in the category "Roles by (referenced actor)".

• Archive - Eases links to web.archive addresses.

• Auth - Marks an author. Links to Someone's wiki page and puts the article in the category "Works by Someone".

• Black Library - Eases links to the Black Library's website. See discussion on the template page.

• Move - A move request has been submitted for the page.

• Multiple Endings - For projects like video games, etc. with no alternative conflicting source and when none of the outcomes has been confirmed as canon by later source.

• Help - For help pages.

• Spoiler - Marks a a section of a page as containing elements that contains spoilers for a Games Workshop publication.

• Trivia - Marks a trivia section with no in-universe and/or inspirations, allusions, references. For information regarding its use, see Warhammer 40k - Lexicanum:Trivia.

Disambiguation

Citation

• Footnote - Used in body of text to cite information. To be used in conjunction with endnotes.

• Endnote - Used in Sources section to separate different sources. To be used in conjunction with footnotes.

Issue Marking

• Work in Progress - Used for articles that are in the process of being created or revised over multiple edits.

• Attention - Use this template to notify miscellaneous article problems, and state their nature in the Problem parameter.

• Deletion - Template to mark articles for deletion.

• Move - Suggest an article to be moved to a different name.

• Template:Missing map - Add to articles that should be improved by adding a map.

Citation Issues

• Quarantine - Template to mark articles which have had text and/or images put under quarantine due to insufficient citation.

• Quarantine Start - Template to mark the beginning of the quarantine section on a discussion page.

• Quarantine End - Template to mark the end of the quarantine section on a discussion page.

• Cite this - Marks the need for a source in the text of the article.

• Citation Issues - Marks overall article with citation issues.

• Citation Mark Starts - Marks the beginning of a section of text with a citation issue.

• Citation Mark Ends - Marks the end of a section of text with a citation issue.

• Cite - Deprecated - use Citation Issues instead. Replace existing uses!
  

• Dead Source - for use when a source is dead, and no archive is available.
  • Dead Source End – footer template clarifying source.

Images

• Copyright - Generic copyright block. To be added to images if not present.

• Gallery - Gallery-making template. Can accommodate varying shapes, sizes, widths, etc.

• Image Summary Needed - If there is no summary/description of the image.

• Third Party Image - if the image comes from a Third Party

• TOC_limit: Table of contents. Look at the documentation first!
• CompactTOC: A compact table of contents (alphabetical). Look at the TOClimit documentation first!

Customisable Textboxes

• Mbox - Generic customisable textbox.

• Hatnote - Generic textbox with an extra cool drone picture. Lacks documentation.

• Warning Message - Generic warning block, similar to {{Cite}}.

• Portal Badge Link - Intended as a simplification of the Faction Portals on the Main Page. Pulls transparent faction symbol and adds the name. Seen in action (NOT UP TO DATE, cf Votann etc) here

• Portal Link Box - Generic portal link box, similar to Faction Portals.

Page-specific templates

• Template:Dont Delete This Line (Immaterium) - Intro block for the Immaterium training grounds.

Other

• Template:Purge - Adds a purge button that reloads the page and clears the server cache, forcing the page to be completely rendered "from scratch". Useful on often-edited pages and pages featuring a lot of transclusion.

Lore
